Leading PR Agencies Join Synapse Platform to Revolutionise Media Pitching
Synapse News
Synapse is proud to announce the addition of several major PR agencies to its roster, including Ketchum, FleishmanHillard, and Hill+Knowlton Strategies.
Synapse, the innovative PR pitching platform designed to streamline communication between PR professionals and journalists, is proud to announce the addition of several major PR agencies to its roster, including Ketchum, FleishmanHillard, and Hill+Knowlton Strategies. These agencies join more than 900 journalists from leading titles such as The Mirror, The Express, and The Scotsman, who have registered with Synapse.
Synapse, developed by former Gorkana and Dow Jones executive Charles Russell and backed by PR veteran Mark Borkowski, addresses a longstanding industry challenge: the overwhelming volume of email pitches bombarding journalists. The platform allows journalists to filter pitches by topic and format, such as print or online, and flag pitches that are irrelevant. PR professionals benefit from valuable insights, including data on how many journalists have accepted, viewed, or flagged their pitches. Embargo dates can also be set, adding further control to the pitching process.
The platform, which launched in July and is set to go live this month, has already attracted 904 PR professionals from over 333 companies. Joining a growing list of industry leaders embracing Synapse are agencies such as The PHA Group, Borkowski, Teamspirit, Folk, Journey Further, Fleet Street Comms, MPR Communications, and Lotus.
Charles Russell, founder of Synapse, commented on the growing number of agencies adopting the platform:
“Many agencies have told me that COVID-19 marked a turning point in their media outreach, and they are now seeking new ways to engage with journalists. Synapse offers a professional tool to help PR professionals reach journalists more effectively, providing relationship-building, instant messaging, and automatic feedback. The feedback from early adopters has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the real challenge PRs face in connecting with the media.”
Sandy Downs, Senior Account Director at Teamspirit, echoed these sentiments:
“The pandemic has dramatically shifted how both PRs and journalists operate. With desk phones becoming obsolete and a more hybrid work environment, tools like Synapse, which help streamline media relations, are invaluable. The fast-paced news cycle and changing preferences make tools like this essential for keeping up.”
Hayley Bromfield, Director of Sales and Marketing at The PHA Group, added:
“Synapse is a game-changer for the PR industry. It provides a seamless platform for sharing stories and pitches, and we’re excited to use it to foster meaningful engagement and amplify our clients’ stories.”
Nicola Long, Director (Brand) at Ketchum UK, praised Synapse for its potential to streamline the pitching process:
“Tailoring our pitches to the right journalists is a major investment for us. We believe Synapse will simplify this process, deliver faster feedback, and increase our impact.”
Imogen Sackey, Associate Director at FleishmanHillard, emphasized the importance of building strong relationships with journalists:
“Creating meaningful connections with the right journalists is key to our work. Synapse offers the potential to make these connections more efficient and effective, and we look forward to seeing how it can enhance our approach.”
As Synapse continues to gain traction among leading PR agencies and media outlets, it is poised to become an indispensable tool for streamlining media relations in today’s fast-paced, hybrid work environment.

We’d love to. But we’re not quite there yet.
Synapse believes that journalists have the right to their own data, and that by giving journalists control over their data, PRs will receive more accurate and timely information that isn’t currently available on any other database.
This means that we need to work with journalists to register them on the platform, rather than adding every UK journalist without permission. This is something our team is working on every single day.
